Autumn 2

Week beginning 28/10/19 ...

On our return after the half-term holiday we spent some of the week focusing on 'circles'. We had a lovely time hunting for circles in our outdoor environment - and found loads of them!

Week beginning 04/11/19 ...

This week we started our 'Traditional Tales' topic by listening to the story of 'Goldilocks and the 3 bears'. We enjoyed a puppet show retelling the story and drew pictures of the characters in the story. We set up our home corner to be the 3 bears' cottage and had great role play fun.

Week beginning 11/11/19 ...

We continued our focus on 'Goldilocks and the 3 bears' this week - we made (and ate) porridge and made a model of the 3 bears' house - we then responded to instructions to hide baby bear round the house as a way to develop and practise our understanding of positional language. We enjoyed coming to school in non-uniform this week to raise money and support 'Children in Need'.

Week beginning 18/11/19 ...

We continued our focus on prepositional language this week with lots of further activities and games. We also turned our attention to the story of the '3 little pigs'. We painted and made houses out of large cardboard boxes to represent the houses of straw, sticks and bricks and, with the help of some masks, spent many hours playing and retelling the story. We also worked really well together to draw giant story maps to retell the story in the correct sequence.

Week beginning 25/11/19 ...

This week we enjoyed choosing some of our favourite stories and reading independently. Our key focus this week was on our number skills.

Week beginning 02/12/19 ...

This week saw the start of our Christmas preparations and celebrations. We started learning the songs for our class nativity - everyone is picking them up very quickly. We set up our role play area into 'Santa's workshop' and had a great time wrapping presents, writing lists and delivering them on Santa's sleigh.

Week beginning 09/12/19 ...

Some of Santa's elves had hidden Santa's hat! We went on a treasure hunt to find it, following clues and directions. We finally found it up a tree in teh eco-garden! - the elves had also left some gold coins for each of us. We made some Christmas cards and enjoyed lots of Christmas arts and crafts activities!
