Summer term has been very busy. We have learned all about The Great Fire of London and we are now reading the stroy Claude in the City by Alex T Smith. Take a look at some of the activities we have been doing.

We have been following instructions to see it they are simple and clear to follow. We made tasty fruit pizzas using the instructions. This was to get us ready to write our own set of instructions.

We became news reports to report on a big news event that took place in Broughton School. We visited the scene of the event, we made notes and then we turned our notes into a newspaper report.

Spring Term 1

 The Dark by Lemony Snicket

This half term we have been learning about Laszlo and his fear of the dark. We discovered that the dark wasn't scary at all and it just wanted to help Laszlo all along. We started the term by sketching light and dark pictures, using chalk and charcoal. We have also wrote descriptions of the dark, poems about the dark and wrote reports about Nocturnal Animals.

Autumn Term 2

Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob) by Simon Bartram

This half term we are learning all about Bob and his life as the Man on the Moon.

This week we looked at a picture of a man named Bob. We decided to think about what we already knew about him and then we wrote some questions to send to him to find out a little bit more. He kindly sent us a book to answer all of our questions. After reading about Bob we took our very own trip to the moon to think about what it must be like up there.

Autumn Term 1

Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett

Over the last two weeks we have explored Asia with Sunny to help him write a postcard home and we have also taken part in drama to try and give Sunny some advice about going home or staying in Broughton..

Today we took Sunny on a new adventure, ready to write all about it tomorrow using noun phrases.

We have had an exciting start to Year 2 by reading the story Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett. The main character from the story, Sunny, has even decided to pay Class 4 a visit. So far we have made predictions about the story, written in the style of Sunny, selected key information from the story and retold the story in pictures. We can't wait to work some more alongside our friend Sunny.
