Autumn 1

Autumn 1 is our first term of the academic year. Please keep checking back to see what we have been up to.

Autumn Term Class Letters

Settling In

All the children have settled well into the new classroom environment. We have been discussing our classroom rules, learning how to use new resources and taking part in new activities e.g. making our own morning snack and attending whole school assemblies.

The Enormous Turnip

This term our class book focus is The Enormous Turnip. We are able to use Talk for Writing actions to tell the story of The Enormous Turnip and we are starting to create story maps to also help us tell the story. In our school Eco Garden we have 3 Enormous Turnips growing!

McMillan Coffee Morning

To raise money for McMillan Reception are hosting a coffee morning in the school hall. We have written our own invitations home, baked three different types of cake and will be collecting some money in alongside the School Council from our parents for them to join our coffee morning. We raised a fantastic total of £66.50!

Wheelchair Basketball

This week the school had a visit from Nat. He spoke to us about how he came in be in a wheelchair and how he now plays for Team GB in Wheelchair Basketball. Class 2 had the chance to join Nat in the playground to move around and race about in the wheelchairs. They thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Gruffalo Has Come to Broughton!

Mrs Bryden came in inform Class 2 that the Gruffalo had been spotted in Broughton Village. We went outside to see if we could find him, whilst looking we spotted lots of scratches on trees and even the School Minibus that the Gruffalo had made with his Terrible Claws! We also noticed apples that had been partially eaten by the Gruffalo and a big crack in the pavement that the Gruffalo had made with his Turned Out Toes! We never found the Gruffalo and think he must have gone back to his home in Whinlatter Forest.
