The children in Year 1 have been fantastic in French so far! They are now able to recognise colours in French, count to 10 and identify a range of different greetings and everyday words.

Mrs Turpin gave us the names of different colours in French and we had to find something in the correct colour. We remembered all of our colours in French. Aren't we clever?

We have been working on our numbers this week counting all the way up to 10 in French. We played a game matching the numerals 1-10 to their French names and listened to number songs. We had so much fun doing this.

We have been learning about French food and labelling different foods we like in French. Some of them were very tricky. We enjoyed tasting brioche and croissant but we weren't very keen on trying the smelly cheeses.

We have now started our spring term French by looking at families. We now know the French vocabulary  moi (me), la Soeur (sister), le Frere(brother), la Mere (mum), le Pere (dad), la Grand-mere (Grandma) and let Grand-pere (Grandpa).

We sorted different animals into 'grand' and 'petit' to link in with our science topic.

We talked about members of our family, giving them their French names and we also looked at family photographs. The children really enjoyed learning about their friends' family members.
