Literacy

The Romans

As part of our topic we learnt about the story of Boudicca. Here we creating freeze frames to tell the story.

In our class we have started a new literacy topic based on the Roald Dahl book The BFG. Before we began our topic we joined in with Roald Dahl day on Tuesday 13th September in which we engaged in live podcasts from Matilda the Musical, Quentin Blake and others with schools from all over the world. Here is us enjoying the Roald Dahl day podcasts.

Our first activity from the book is to design and describe a new character that could be lurking around Sophie's bedroom in "The Witching Hour". The first phase of this work is to be familiar with what a character description is, what one looks like and what it includes. Here we are doing some research to find out more about character descriptions.

The children created dream jars to go with their beautiful poems by filling jars with all sorts of magical, sparkly things. I think you'll agree they look fabulous.

The Long Wait

In Literacy we have been looking at the famous John Lewis Advert- The Long Wait. We created a story map for the advert and then wrote diary extracts as the little boy who we named Thomas. Here we are doing our writing, we like to create a nice atmosphere in class when writing with low level lighting and soft slow music to inspire us! It really helps us produce quality writing!
